Live From the Masters… I’m Buying China

I went to the Masters on Saturday.

It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I play some golf, but I wouldn’t necessarily call myself “a golfer.”

As a lifelong sports fan, I thought I understood how special the Masters and Augusta National really are. I clearly did not. But now I do.

That’s a very special place, and it’s one heck of an event.

But here’s the thing: Everybody’s wrong about it.

How to Master the Masters

So many people do it incorrectly.

And I would have too, had it not been for my host, who has been going to this event every year since he was eight years old.

While the newbies were following around some of the superstars all day, not even being able to see the players, my host took me around backwards.

We started on 18 and worked our way toward Amen Corner, before any of the players even got there.

He placed us front-row behind the first green to see Rory McIlroy, the newest Masters champion, sink a birdie on Saturday…

That was just before he went on to eagle two and then birdie the third hole.

Everybody was wrong. We did it right. And for that I will forever be grateful.

As I was sitting there on a perfect sunny day, mid 60s, drinking a nice cold beer and appreciating everything around me, I realized, China is exactly like this.

Everybody is wrong.

On television, they’re telling you that Trump is about to force U.S. exchanges to delist Chinese stocks.

The tariffs, the trade war, the communism…

Everybody Hates China

I love it.

We’re putting out a new trade today, in fact, to take advantage of rising Chinese stock prices.

While people are becoming even more afraid of Chinese-related stocks, we’re leaning in.

The relative strength coming from Chinese stocks, with the series of higher lows and higher highs, makes this a great entry point for us – right here:

The people selling Chinese stocks are the same folks following around the superstars all day at the masters, unable to see anything at all.

To be fair, that would have been me as well, had it not been for the expertise and experience by my amazing host this weekend.

Everybody was wrong. But we were right. And it made my experience at the Masters that much more special.

Chinese stocks are like that. The newbies – and Wall Street! – are scared.

But they’re wrong.

And I know we should probably do it differently. And I know how.

So we’re leaning into this divergence.

Everybody is wrong: It’s a tradition unlike any other.
